Our Commitment to being a Whole Earth Congregation

We're a whole earth congregation, committed to living in harmony with God's creation

We believe in the holiness of God's creation. This belief calls us to live in harmony with the earth, to be advocates for earth-sustainable agricultural and industrial practices, to love and care for the air, the plants and trees, the fish and animals, the soil, and the waters.

Our congregation is committed to reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Our worship services reflect our commitment. Our programs encourage and teach us how to put our commitment into practice.

Members are involved in organic gardening and environmental efforts throughout the wider community, including Sierra Club, Southern Sustainability , the Shawnee Green Party, the Neighborhood Food Co-op, and Illinois Stewardship Alliance.

These four symbols of fire, air, water and earth sit on the altar, to remind us of God's creation and our duty to care for it.
